I have an addiction to cookbooks. The ones I actually use and not just look at are America's Test Kitchen, A Taste of Oregon, Better Homes and Gardens and Best of Sunset.Ones I like just to look at the pictures are French Laundry, Ad Hoc at Home, and Alinea. They are wonderful to look at, but the cooking is too fussy for me.

I actually barely use cookbooks. I may have an idea in my head for something I want to make, and then, I will look in my cookbooks, see what I can find for basics, and then I twist it to my own liking. One example is my favorite pizza dough recipe. I have a basic recipe I found in a cookbook, then to make it a bit better, I changed it up, and now, I make huge batches, and we have make your own pizza night. I'll have to do that soon, just to get the pictures for it, and give some ideas to any readers.
I've actually been working on my own cookbook. Not in a lets publish this and make money cookbook, more using a site to put my recipes on pages, make it look nice, add pictures, and have them print the pages and send them to me. I also have a book that we write all my recipes into, so that the kids will have them later.
One of my new favorite things is my Kindle. If you don't already have on, look into getting one. So many of the books are free, if you know where to look, plus there are a ton of free cookbooks. I have cookbooks on southern food, italian food, I have one cookbook that is 365 different ethnic recipes. The kindle makes it easy to collect cookbooks without having to pay for them , since every one I mentioned was free.
They also have a best sellers list on Kindle, and then right next to it is the bestsellers free list. that I check every day. I have found books on there one day, and the next day they are full price. Some authors will put their first books out there, just to get you hooked, hey here's a free book, enjoy. Others are just what I like to call trash novels, quick brainless reads. My surgeon asked me one day what I was reading, and I told him it was a trash novel, and his response was that the kindle was really cool then, because you had no way of knowing, you could think I was reading something brainy.
So, anyhow, cookbooks, Kindle and other fun things. I'll have more recipes tonight, after I make dinner. It will be something with chicken, that's all I know at this point.
